EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

 

January 2015 – present

Freelance copywriter, journalist and sub-editor. Recent/ongoing clients and projects:
 

 

 

April 2015 – January 2020 

Sub-editor, Square Up Media (Freelance, in-house) 

I was solely responsible for sub-editing Square Mile, Hedge, Foodism and Escapism magazines. This included grammar and sense checking, headlines and standfirsts, pull quotes, proofing and rewrites to ensure every article adhered to house style and tone. 

January 2011 – January 2015

Editor, The Richmond Resident and Westside Resident, Archant Life

  • Planning, commissioning, writing and subbing two glossy local lifestyle titles (24 issues per year)

  • Creating compelling, original content

  • Managing budgets

  • Sourcing covers and writing coverlines

  • Arranging photoshoots

  • Heavily involved in multiple redesigns of both titles

  • Generating and uploading web stories daily to www.theresident.co.uk

  • Successfully maintaining and developing social networking sites

  • Working closely with sales to accommodate client needs, generate creative solutions and maximise revenue potential

  • Working closely with design team to perfect layout of pages

  • Using InDesign and CMS software (Citrix P Series) on a daily basis

January 2008 – December 2010

Assistant Editor, SW and SW19, Archant Life

Assisting the editor of SW, and working as section editor of SW19. This role included:

  • Planning, commissioning and writing features across both titles

  • Conducting interviews

  • Sourcing images

  • Organising events

  • Uploading content onto the website

  • Interacting with readers and clients

  • Contributing to other Archant Life publications

 

September 2006 – December 2007

  • Writing health and beauty, food and drink, shopping, property and events pages

  • Interviewing local celebrities/people of interest for profiles and features

  • Solely responsible for uploading content onto the SW website when it first launched

  • Assisting editors across all London titles with research, writing what’s on, news and property pages

  • Attending social events and representing the titles at PR launches
